ST ANN KIBIKO

BACKGROUND

The St. Ann Kibiko church was initially an out-station of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish, Ngong. The construction of St. Ann Church was completed on 11thNovember 1992 and it was officially blessed and opened by Bishop Colin Davies. In 1997 it was elevated to the Status of Sub-Parish which was meant to outpost for the pastoral outlet for the priests at the Bishop’s residence in Ngong. Among them were:-  Frs. F. Kodonyo, Barabara, Chumu, Francis Mwangi, Nderitu, and others.  In 2004, with the opening of Ewaso as a Parish, it became out-station of Ewaso Kedong’.  Fr. John Fortune was thus Parish Priest while Kibiko was part of Ewaso Kedong’ Parish. St. Ann Kibiko became a parish in 2013 and Fr. Stanislaus Malisa IC became the first Parish Priest. Fr. Thomas IC is the second serving Parish Priest of St. Ann Kibiko Parish Church.

As a Parish St. Ann Kibiko is entrusted by the Bishop to the Rosminian community who has assigned three of its members to to serve and live community life – Frs. Thomas and Richard and Brother Stanislaus. The parish is blessed to be having many religious communities within its jurisdiction- for this reason it is sometimes referred to as the “Small Vatican of Ngong.” The Christian community is therefore served by priests & religious in various formation houses, and three catechists.

The parish has three outstations; Our lady of Gaudalupe-Kimuka, Holy Family-Oloshoiobor and St. Peters Kibiko holdings. The church has grown over the years and currently has a total population of approximately 1200 Christians. Due to the vast distribution of the Christian community there are plans to open other out stations in Ngaroj and Milimani.

PATRON SAINT, ST. ANN

St. Anne is the patron saint of our church. Saint Anne was the grandmother of Jesus Christ. She was born from the House of David, the line which was prophesied to give birth to Christ. The most chaste Anne was a humble and beautiful maiden. From her childhood she led a virtuous, holy life and attained perfection in exalted contemplation.

Saint Ann prayed fervently to God to obtain a husband who would help her in the fulfillment of the ancient law. At that same moment Joachim made the same petition and it was divinely disposed that Joachim and Ann would unite in marriage and become the parents of Mary the mother of Jesus. Saint Joachim had his home, family and relations in Nazareth, a town of Galilee.  He was a just and holy man and illumined by special grace and light from on high, had a knowledge of many mysteries of the Holy Scriptures and of the olden prophets. St Ann pray for us
